Raising kids Vs transforming a business. Is there really a difference?
The most successful business transformations take input from every level of the organisation; from executive level down to the administrators on the front line. When all staff are included in the planning process, they can be prepared for the change and change their behaviours to be receptive instead of resistant and resentful.
I’ve found a very similar contrast in my parenting. When I involve my son in the days plans and let him know what we are doing over the course of the day, he is receptive and cooperative to every step and every change. However, when I just throw instructions at him and go the dictatorship route, he stalls, resists or plays up.
We are all kids at heart. And while we as humans are rational beings, change can create irrational, emotional reactions- not too different to a toddler tantrum really. Lucky kids are cute
